Continuous Countersink Tool (Spring-Loaded base / solid base)


In order to produce continuous countersinks (also ref page: max. depth of countersinks) there are two tool systems possible:

Solid base Form Tool

1.) Solid base Form Tool

consists of:
- forming punch
- PU-punch stripper
- die

advantages:
- low tooling cost
- also usable for thick sheets

disadvantages:
- limited usage for soft material, e.g. copper, aluminium


Spring-Loaded base Form Tool

2.)
Spring-Loaded base Form Tool with replaceable punch insert

consist of:
- spring-loaded upper part
- punch insert
- die

advantages:
- no deformation of the material (also soft material)
- low cost replaceable punch inserts

disadvantages:
- only for use up to s=4 mm (.16") thick steel
- higher initial tooling costs
